Is there anything more special for an Aussie than being selected to represent your country?

YES!!! Being selected to represent your country to play over the Australia Day long weekend… in your own backyard.

This weekend in Newcastle, an array of Hornets players and coaching staff will be involved with the Australian Emus youth touch football teams, as they battle New Zealand in the 2020 Youth Trans-Tasman touch series.

The Youth Trans-Tasman Test Series (YTT) is an international best of three touch football test match series. This best-of-three test match series between Australia and New Zealand is on at No.2 Sports Ground in Newcastle, from 24th January to the 26th January. The tournament features six youth divisions including; Under 18 Boys, Girls and Mixed and Under 20 Boys, Girls and Mixed.

These teams will have a strong Hornets flavour, with the following players and coaching staff being involved in the Australian Emus teams:

  • Kaya Ardita, Jack Smith, Owen Flaherty (Under 18 Boys)
  • Sandon Smith, Andi Law (Under 18 Mixed)
  • Joshua Moffitt, Kurt Donoghoe, Jeremy Belcher, Liam Squires (Under 20 Boys)
  • Blake Potts, Floyd Tighe, Lachlan Rayner-Badior (Under 20 Mixed)
  • Karley Banks (Coach Under 18 Boys)
  • Wayne Goodchild (Manager Under 18 Boys)

Hunter Western Hornets would encourage all our players and supporters to get along to No.2 Sports Ground and support the Emus in action, or alternatively watch the games online.

All games from the 2020 Youth Trans-Tasman will be live streamed via Touch Football Australia’s website and Facebook thanks to BarTV Sports!

Congratulations to our Hornets representatives on their Australian selection and good luck to all Australian Emus teams.
