Hornets recently announced their return to the National Youth Championships, and subsequently opened expressions of interest for eligible players.
After discussions with the Directors of Coaching, Selecting and the Regional Board, Hornets have decided to permanently extend the expressions of interest process, for eligible players who wish to be considered for the Boys 18’s and Girls 18’s sides to compete at the 2019 National Youth Championships on 18-21 September 2019, on the Sunshine Coast QLD.
Preference notice:
To ensure the quality of these teams are of a particular standard, it is preferred that those expressing interest were a part of;
1. All 2019 Hunter Western Hornets U18s final team and training squad (boys and girls)
2. All 2019 Hunter Western Hornets U16s final team and training squad (boys and girls)
However, any Hornets affiliate player who competed at the DGWJC or PWMC in the most reason junior representative season in U/18’s, 16’s or 14’s) will be welcome to complete an EOI.

Trials
By completing an EOI you are committed to attending the NYC Trials:
When: Sunday 28 July 2019
Time: (8:40am Sign-On) 9:00am – 12:00pm
Venue: Maitland Park, Cnr Elgin & Park Street Maitland (Home of Maitland TA)
Unable to attend? If you are unable to attend due to extenuating circumstances (e.g. major medical issue), please complete an ‘Inability To Trial Form‘ and send to technical@hornetstouch.com.au before 5:00pm Friday 26 July 2019. IMPORTANT: Any form received after this time will not be accepted for consideration – no exceptions.
Uniform requirement: Same playing shirt and number used at PWMC and/or DGWJC.
What to bring: Water bottle/water, touch football boots, sunscreen, hat.
Change room facilities are available at the venue.
Further details will be communicated with players upon arrival.
Schools & NSW Development Teams
Players wishing to compete at the NYC must be willing to make themselves available for selection with the;
- NSW School teams (CHS, CCC, CIS) and secondly,
- NSW Touch Development team.
Should they be selected for any of these they will be ineligible to be selected in a Hornets side. Otherwise if not selected for these teams, they will be eligible for selection for Hunter Western Hornets.
Note: Players must notify Hornets of their selection into one of the above sides via email, as soon as possible once announced – email selectors@hornetstouch.com.au
Training Requirements
Training squad (or final team if ratified after selection trial) will hold 1-2 training weekends prior to National Youth Championships to adequately prepare. All players selected in a squad/team must be committed to attend these sessions (dates to be confirmed by coaching staff).
Coaching Staff
Hornets are in the final stages of confirming NYC Coaching Staff, and will advise of appointments in due course.
